Preliminary Requirements

Students ought to possess a basic grasp of international relations, covering ideas like sovereignty, globalisation, and what international organisations do. It’s expected they can hold critical discussions, analyse tricky problems, and make use of digital tools for online teamwork.

Short Description

This workshop digs into the struggles of global governance in the 21st century, putting special attention on how international organisations tackle stuff like climate change, cybersecurity, and migration. Through chats and multimedia bits, students will sharpen their critical thinking and come up with answers to global headaches.

Full Description

The workshop splits into three meetings (4 hours, 3 hours, 3 hours), each with its own focus and geared to spark discussion.

Session 1: Foundations of Global Governance (4 hours)

• Topics:

  • The history behind global governance and international organisations (UN, NATO, WTO).
  • Big ideas: sovereignty, multilateralism, global
  • Tough bits: power shifts, states against non-state players,

·        Activities:

• Chat: How good is the UN at keeping peace worldwide?

Session 2: Global Governance and Specific Challenges (3 hours)

• Topics:

  • Climate change: International deals (e.g., Paris Agreement).
  • Cybersecurity: Handling the digital
  • Migration: Humanitarian troubles and UNHCR’s

·        Activities:

• Article talk: Reacting to a fresh piece on climate diplomacy or cyber
• Group work: Judging how well international teamwork

Session 3: The Future of Global Governance (3 hours)

• Topics:
  • Fresh trends: AI, biotech, and their effect on
  • Non-state players’ roles (NGOs, companies).
  • Ideas for shaking up global

• Debate: Should global governance be all in one place or spread out?
• Simulation: Sketching a new setup for managing AI
