Minister’s Scholarships for Outstanding Young Scientists

A scholarship can be granted to individuals who, on the day of receiving the scholarship, hold the status of a young scientist.

A young scientist is a person engaged in scientific activity who:

  • Is a doctoral student or an academic teacher without a doctoral degree, or
  • Holds a doctoral degree obtained no more than 7 years ago and is employed by an entity specified in Article 7(1) of the aforementioned Act, i.e., a university, a federation of entities within the higher education and research system, the Polish Academy of Sciences, a scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences operating under the Act of 30 April 2010 on the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute operating under the Act of 30 April 2010 on research institutes, an international scientific institute established under separate laws and operating on the territory of the Republic of Poland, the Polish Academy of Skills, or another entity primarily engaged in scientific activity in an independent and continuous manner.

A young scientist demonstrating significant achievements in scientific activity (which are documented in writing) can receive the Minister’s scholarship for outstanding young scientists.

The persons authorized to submit applications for the scholarship, in accordance with Article 360(4) of the Act, are:

  • The rector, director of the institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, director of the research institute, or director of the international institute where the doctoral school is conducted and where the young scientist is a doctoral student.
  • The person in charge of the entity specified in Article 7(1) of the Act employing the young scientist.

The application for the scholarship is completed in the Integrated Service System for Science – Financial Stream Support (OSF system).
