SCIENTIFIC INTERNSHIPS
DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH INTERNSHIPS
Order No. 3/2026 of the Director of the Doctoral School of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce regulates the rules for undertaking research internships in Poland and abroad, which constitute an integral part of the doctoral education programme. The aim of these internships is to develop research competencies, exchange experiences and establish scientific cooperation with domestic and international academic institutions.
The document specifies the procedures for applying for a research internship, undertaking the internship and fulfilling doctoral students’ reporting obligations. The appendices contain templates of the required forms to ensure proper documentation of completed internships.

on the rules for undertaking internships as part of education at the Doctoral School of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce
Pursuant to § 188(6) of the Statute of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce and § 2(13)(5) of the Regulations of the Doctoral School, introduced by Resolution No. 6/2025 of the Senate of Jan Kochanowski University of 27 February 2025 on the adoption of the Regulations of the Doctoral School of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, the following is hereby ordered:
§ 1
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. A doctoral student of the Doctoral School is required to complete a research or artistic internship during their education in accordance with the applicable education programme.
2. A research internship is understood as an internship undertaken for the purpose of conducting scientific research or acquiring knowledge and skills related to conducting scientific research or artistic activities, under the rules specified in this Order.
3. A doctoral student may undertake a research internship at any stage of their education.
4. The duration of the internship is specified in the education programme.
5. An internship may be undertaken at:
1) scientific and research institutions;
2) archives and research libraries;
3) higher education institutions;
4) cultural institutions;
5) other institutions conducting scientific research.
6. An internship may be undertaken through:
1) conducting scientific research in cooperation with scientific and research institutions or cultural institutions;
2) conducting or participating in laboratory research;
3) collecting library or archival materials for scientific work;
4) artistic activities.
7. The internship should be undertaken outside the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, with the exception of persons with mobility disabilities.
8. Failure to complete or account for the internship may be considered a breach of the doctoral student’s obligations, with consequences arising from the Regulations.
9. A doctoral student of the Doctoral School undertaking a research internship is required to indicate affiliation with Jan Kochanowski University for the results of scientific work produced during the internship.
10. The costs of the internship, including travel, daily allowances and accommodation, may be covered in particular from funds originating from:
1) research projects funded, for example, by NCN, NCBR or NAWA;
2) university research projects;
3) academic exchange programmes.
§ 2
DOMESTIC RESEARCH INTERNSHIP
1. A doctoral student is required to submit to the Director of the Doctoral School an application for referral to a domestic research internship, constituting Appendix No. 1 to this Order, endorsed by the supervisor and the Head of the relevant Section, no later than two months before the planned departure date.
2. The application referred to in paragraph 1 must be accompanied by the consent of a representative of the institution where the internship will take place.
3. Immediately after completing the internship, i.e. within 14 days of the return date, the doctoral student shall submit to the Director of the Doctoral School:
1) a research internship report using the template constituting Appendix No. 2 to this Order;
2) documents confirming the expenditure of funds and documents specified in the legal acts in force at Jan Kochanowski University concerning domestic and international travel by employees and doctoral students.
§ 3
INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH INTERNSHIP
1. In the case of travel for an international research internship, the rules specified in the legal acts in force at Jan Kochanowski University concerning international travel by doctoral students shall apply.
2. The application referred to in paragraph 1 must be accompanied by the consent of a representative of the institution where the internship will take place.
3. The doctoral student is required to register their trip in the Odyseusz system at: https://odyseusz.msz.gov.pl/.
4. For the duration of the trip, the doctoral student is required to obtain personal accident and medical expenses insurance covering the entire period of their stay abroad, including travel.
5. Immediately after completing the internship, i.e. within 14 days of returning to Poland, the doctoral student shall submit to the Director of the Doctoral School:
1) a research internship report using the template constituting Appendix No. 2 to this Order;
2) documents confirming the expenditure of funds and documents specified in the legal acts in force at Jan Kochanowski University concerning domestic and international travel by employees and doctoral students.
§ 4
Order No. 2/2025 of the Director of the Doctoral School of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce of 1 July 2025 on the rules for undertaking internships as part of education at the Doctoral School of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce is hereby repealed.
§ 5
This Order shall enter into force on 1 October 2026.
