INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH PLAN

Article 202.

  1. In agreement with the supervisor(s), the doctoral student develops an individual research plan, which includes a schedule for preparing the doctoral thesis, and submits it to the entity running the doctoral school within 12 months from the start of the education. In the case of appointing an assistant supervisor, the plan is submitted after being reviewed by that supervisor.

2. The implementation of the plan is subject to a mid-term evaluation, which takes place halfway through the education period specified in  the education program or, in the case of a 6-semester education, during the fourth semester.

Article 203.

The doctoral student is removed from the list of doctoral students in the following cases:

  1. a negative result of the mid-term evaluation;
  2. failure to submit the doctoral thesis within the deadline specified in the individual research plan;
  3. resignation from the education. The doctoral student may be removed from the list of doctoral students in the following cases:
  4. unsatisfactory progress in preparing the doctoral thesis;
  5. failure to fulfill obligations as mentioned in Article 207.

Article 204.

1. The education of a doctoral student concludes with the submission of the doctoral thesis.

2. The individual research plan determines the deadline for submitting the doctoral thesis.

§ 4 Individual Research Plan

  1. The doctoral student, in consultation with the supervisor or supervisors, develops an individual research plan covering the period of education in the Doctoral School.
  2. The individual research plan, the template of which is provided in Attachment No. 1 to this Regulation, includes, in particular:
    1. a research plan outlining the studies the doctoral student will conduct during their education in the Doctoral School;
    2. a schedule for preparing the doctoral dissertation;
    3. a plan of activities aimed at enhancing the competencies preparing the doctoral student for research, research and development, or artistic work.
  3. The individual research plan should indicate the possibility of financing the planned tasks.
  4. The supervisor or supervisors confirm by their signature that the individual research plan of the doctoral student has been prepared in agreement with them.
  5. The individual research plan of the doctoral student requires an opinion from the assistant supervisor – in case an assistant supervisor is appointed.
  6. The doctoral student presents the individual research plan to the director, submitting it to the Doctoral Students Section, after agreement with the supervisor or supervisors, or the supervisor and assistant supervisor, considering paragraph 5, no later than the deadline specified in the law.
  7. The individual research plan is evaluated by the disciplinary team for assessing individual research plans, serving an advisory role to the director, composed of: the section manager – as the chairman, and two representatives from each discipline within the given disciplinary section, one of whom is a representative of the Scientific Council, and the other is a representative of the Quality of Education Commission in the Doctoral School.
  8. The director approves the individual research plan within one month from the date of its submission.
  9. The doctoral student is obliged to submit a revised individual research plan if changes recommended by the director are required, within 14 days from the day of being informed about the recommendations. Provisions 1-6 apply accordingly.
  10. The doctoral student is obliged to submit an updated individual research plan within 30 days after the expiration of the period of education suspension or extension of the dissertation submission, according to the rules specified in paragraphs 1-6, for its approval. Provisions 7-9 apply accordingly.

§ 7 Mid-term Evaluation

  1. The Committee assesses the midterm implementation of the individual research plan based on:
  2. the individual research plan;
  3. the midterm report on the implementation of the individual research plan;
  4. an interview with the doctoral student.

§ 9 Removal from the List of Doctoral Students

  • A doctoral student is struck off the list of doctoral students in the following cases:
    1. obtaining a negative result in the midterm evaluation;
    2. failure to submit the doctoral dissertation within the deadline specified in the individual research plan, with the reservation of § 10 para. 1;
    3. resignation from continuing education in the Doctoral School;
    4. non-commencement of education;
    5. violation of the prohibition referred to in art. 200 para. 7 or art. 209 para. 10 of the law;
    6. disciplinary punishment resulting in expulsion from the Doctoral School.
  • A doctoral student may be struck off the list of doctoral students for failure to implement the education program and the individual research plan, in particular:
    1. failure to submit the individual research plan within the deadline specified in the law;
    2. unsatisfactory progress in preparing the doctoral dissertation;
    3. conduct inconsistent with the content of the oath or the regulations of the Doctoral School.
  • The decision to strike a doctoral student off the list of doctoral students is made by the director on behalf of the rector.
